It’s hard to believe we’ve been here longer than a
month already. We’ve been enjoying
so much Marquette has to offer.
The lake, the restaurants, the weather, the lighthouses, the boats, the parks…
We enjoy going down to the lake to sit and relax or
to have a picnic. David was crazy
enough to jump in the 50ish degree water. Me- not so much.
Here's some pictures so far...
Lake Superior-
One of my favorite things to see...all of the boats in the harbor! |
A relaxing Sunday on the beach. That's David...just before his freezing plunge. |
We caught a view of how rough Lake Superior can be...
Maritime Museum & Lighthouse Tour-
This is the Marquette Harbor lighthouse located in the lower harbor of Marquette.
David and I were able to tour this lighthouse!
On the cat walk during the tour of the lighthouse. This lighthouse is an old
school house shape. We walked through several old apartments that are now used
for displays by the Museum. The coastguard operates this lighthouse, so we weren't
able to tour the control room.
While we waited for the tour to begin, we toured the Museum.
I enjoyed seeing this old scuba gear...check out the boots
and that belt...not to mention the big metal helmet. I can't
recall how much those boots weighed, but it was too much.
This is a periscope from an old WWII submarine. They have
it set up so you can look around the harbor of Marquette. :0
The lighthouse/break wall walk
The lighthouse in the lower harbor of Marquette. |
The walk along the break wall was a long one...but we got a little closer to the lighthouse! |
A view of all the boats from the break wall. The water is so clear! |
Marquette Farmer’s
Market
This is downtown at the Marquette Farmer's Marquette. They have tons of fresh vegetables/fruits, farm raised meats, and lots of artsy stuff. We go pretty much every Saturday to stock up. |
Last but not least...our home!
These are the apartments we are living in. We live on the back side of the building, facing the woods. More to come of the apartment..when it's blog appropriate.
