David and I spent this weekend out of Marquette for the first time. We stayed in Munising, MI which is on the south bay of Grand Island. Munisng literally means near the island. It's a small, quiet town...but beautiful nevertheless. We spent the night at Beach Inn Motel, right on the lake. Our view of Lake Superior was gorgeous!
Here in Munising, you can see the Pictured Rocks that stretch along Lake Superior. The Pictured Rocks extend for about 15 miles along the Lake.
We also had a wonderful view of the lake from Miner’s Castle (which is a lookout point) and Miner’s Beach.

View of the Lake from Miner's Castle...Isn't the water color beautiful?
Once you looked over the edge, the wind coming off the lake took your breath away!

We also did a nice little hike up to see Munising Falls. There are so many waterfalls around the area and so many trails to keep you busy.
Sunday- Off to see Grand Sable Dunes, Log slide overlook, and Grand Marais, MI

Log Slide..It's a long way down to the bottom.
Loggers had a wooden slide built in this area to transport timber. |
