Wintery Day

It’s a cold and rainy day here in Colorado.  We are anticipating snow this evening and tonight.  I’m hoping for a couple feet by morning time. :)  We are keeping warm by the fire...and I've been drinking my hot tea.

Thought I would share a picture of the Buckster with you all.  This is how we caught him keeping warm this morning in the cold temps.

Week 3 in Colorado!

Well we are in week 3 here in Glenwood.  We continue to love it and feel right at home.  The snow is starting to melt as temperatures are in the 40’s today. :( This week was a stressful one at school, having been thrown into the middle of a school year, learning new paperwork, and scheduling kiddos and conferences.  But in the end, it’s been a great learning experience for my career.  It is no longer as muddy as week 1 or even last week!  Everyone at the schools has been so helpful, which makes it so much easier.  David has had a great week, as their online auctions are ready for take off.  :) He’s enjoyed setting everything up and perfecting the layout.  David’s excited for the opportunities with this part of their business.  He’s also been coupon crazy this week! Ha! We love all these new stores we get to coupon at, City Market (just like Kroger), Safeway, and RiteAid.  Now that we are settled (and have internet), I’ll be updating Razorback Couponing soon.

So next weekend is my birthday.  We’ve made plans with Charlyn and Jenni to come from Denver to visit and explore Glenwood.  We plan to venture to Aspen to watch the Winter X-Games.  We are so excited to go and even more excited to be with some familiar faces!

For now, so long from Glenwood!  Have a great weekend!

Settlin' in at home...and in the snow

David and I (and our boys) have been enjoying our new home so much.  We love the scenery, the snow, and the people.  Everyone we've met has been so nice and welcoming.  Thought you might like to take a look around our home.  Come on in!

(I took this video the first night...so it's not exactly all put together.)

The day after the Cotton Bowl, we were in the middle of our first Colorado snow!  It was absolutely beautiful!  In over a week, the snow still hadn’t melted.  Now, we are in the middle of yet another snow storm.  It's been snowing all day and supposed to continue throughout the evening.  There have been high winds with it and some white-out conditions, making it hard to see the mountains.  You can just imagine how beautiful everything is! Enjoy!

I told David this tree would be beautiful in the snow..I was right! (first snow)

Woo Pig!

January 6, 2012 – The day designated to calling the Hogs from Colorado.  We were the only ones (that we know of) who designated that day to red and white and “woo pig sooies.” Since we were “roughin’” it in our cabin apartment, we had yet to get Internet or cable.  (In addition to that mess, no cell service due to our tin roof.)  So we went out to a little place called “Springs Downtown Bar & Grill."   We had our own TV, designated to our Hogs.  It was quite strange for both of us to be the only ones in the place to care about watching the game.  Anyway, it was a great game regardless of who cared.  Arkansas got the win and we had a great time, just the two of us!  Woo Pig Sooie!

Let the adventures begin!

Hello all!

Our journey around the country is well underway!  We just finished our second week here in Glenwood Springs, Colorado.  David and I are so blessed to be traveling the country, seeing so many areas.  We have to pinch ourselves every-now and-again and remember that we are here, living in Colorado.  Something we have always loved doing together is traveling.  We have such a passion for seeing different places in the world and gaining cultural experiences.  We are so very thankful for the opportunity to travel and incredibly thankful for our amazing support group at home.  We love you all so much!

Our voyage started on December 29th, 2011 at 8:30 am.  First, we drove north towards and through Joplin, MO.  Tears came to my eyes as I witnessed the tornado damage throughout the city.  As we drove by the hospital, I was amazed to see a structure that massive, standing in complete destruction.  I had trouble taking my eyes off of it.  We drove past a school that had been completely destroyed and numerous housing areas of complete destruction.  It's my prayer that all of this town's population will be able to pick up and rebuild their lives after this incredible storm.  You should count your blessings daily....and always reach out to help those in need.  After Joplin, we drove west into Kansas.  We were blessed to see such beautiful snow in Kansas and were in awe of its beautiful sunset... which made the drive so much better.  It was absolutely breathtaking.

Once we drove past this amazement, the wind became almost unbearable.  After some consideration of pulling over for the night, we decided to keep on truckin’.  We were thankful for good driving conditions after the crazy wind and made it to Denver for the evening.  Our wonderful friends, Charlyn and Jenni, let us steal one of their beds to rest our heads.  We woke early the next morning for the rest of our drive.  On our way, I saw some beautiful Colorado scenery and my first skiers!  Everything is just so beautiful!

David and I arrived in Glenwood Springs at lunch time.  We sat down to a nice meal at “The Daily Bread” in downtown GWS.  It's a small sandwich shop with great soup, sandwiches, and coffee...our kind of restaurant!  We spent our first two nights in GWS at the Silver Spruce Motel, a nice, homey kind of place we'd recommend to anyone.

On Sunday, January 1st, we drove into Carbondale and then on to Aspen.  We both love "Dumb and Dumber," so we both laughed at some great movie lines!  Anyway, Aspen is a beautiful, small, at home kind of place as well.  There are lots of local shops and restaurants and everyone is carrying their skis.  While visiting, we ate at "Johnny Mc Guire's Deli," home of the greatest fries ever. :) We visited CB Paws as well and picked up some great snow sweaters for our boys.

I began work that Monday, January 2nd.  After lots of research, we found the perfect place for us to reside the next 5 months in West GWS.  The broker was wonderful and allowed us to move in immediately.  Our cabin-apartment is not at all what we are used to in Arkansas.  It’s about half the size, one open room, and no stove, ha.  No biggie, our small kitchen has been the least of our worries...my only concern is bears, ha.   We have a sink, a toaster oven, two hot plates, and I have my coffee maker.  Of course, David has his grill and has been making great use of it in the frigid temps.  Needless to say, we have not minded “roughing it” one bit in our small abode.
